Study Permit

A study permit is a document issued to a foreign national to be able to study in Canada at a Designated Learning Institution (DLI). A study permit is valid for the duration of time you are attending your chosen college or university.

What is a Designated Learning Institution (DLI)?

A DLI is a school or institution that has been approved to accept international students. To obtain a study permit, you must be attending a DLI from the official list.

After your studies are complete, you may apply to work through the Post-Graduation Work Permit Program. However, private institutions are not qualified for this program, and there are additional requirements you will need to meet to be approved.

The official list of DLIs are listed here: Government of Canada website
